  • Nancy Wegner, DVM

    A native of Florida, Nancy fell in love with the people and geography of Colorado while earning her Bachelor of Science degree from Colorado State University. She also met her husband, Erik, a Colorado native while there. After completing her degree in 1985, she stayed at the University to earn her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine, graduating with honors in 1989.

    Nancy began her veterinary career in California where she practiced in a progressive mixed animal practice for three years. However, the draw of Colorado proved to be strong and the Wegners returned to Colorado in 1992 when Dr. Dave Herrick offered Nancy the opportunity to join his practice. Nancy and Erik enjoy spending time in the mountains with their two boys, Freeland and Ford. Sharing their home and lives are a dog, 1 cat, and a horse.

    After opening her own successful practice in 1995, Nancy was thankful for the opportunity to combine her practice with that of Dr. Herrick to form Cortez Adobe Animal Hospital in 1997. She has had the privilege to serve pet owners in the Four Corners area for over 28 years. Although there have been many changes at Cortez Adobe over the years, our dedication to the compassionate and capable care of your companion pet has not changed.

  • Jade, Lead Veterinary Assistant

    Jade has worked in the industry as a veterinary assistant since 2008. She has a true passion and love for all animals. In her free time she likes to spend time with her son, her 2 dogs, 2 cats, and chickens. She and her son love spending time in the mountains or at the lake. Her life goal is to own a farm with a small animal rescue.

  • Tasia, Veterinary Assistant

    Tasia was Wyoming raised, but has now made beautiful Colorado her home. Her dedication and passion for animal care began on her family's ranch where she spent her formative years. Tasia graduated from Dove Creek High School with her partner Cade. They enjoy spending quality family time with the only son, Bennett. Their household is also home to two dogs, Nova and Macy, and two cats, Peaches and Makia.
